Hello, I wanted to share a video of some footage from the Similan Islands, Thailand diving on The Junk liveaboard in April 2012. The footage is all acquired with a Canon 550d, different lenses somtimes red filter sometime lights are used.

Hope you enjoy.

Awesome! I'm going to visit these waters on December. I hope to see lots of sea creatures too

Beautiful footage. I am at work so I had watch without sound. Definitely have to rewatch with the audio when I get home.

On the turtle silhouette shots, were you shooting with auto aperture, or auto shutter ?

I use Sony Vegas to edit, on the turtle and manta shots I was using auto exposure controls which is why there is a quick change in the lighting, and a jump when the aperature changes. It would be better to decide what type of shot your going for then just use manual settings.

This is really good. Some of the shots, for example the longfin batfish, are amongst the clearest and most "cinematic" underwater footage I have ever seen from any camera. The music is dramatic but suits the footage really well and definitely adds to the overall feel.

Are you using an Ikelite housing?

By the way, the jellyfish at 0:37 is Versuriga anadyomene, which is quite different from a lion's mane jellyfish. I have been unable to find a common name for it so I just call it a rhizostome jellyfish.

This video is incredible. Makes me second guess why I'm filming my underwater footage with a GoPro Hero2 and not buying a Ikelite housing for my T2i. What lens did you use? Again - incredible.
