Regarding not being in a hurry to surface, you never know what's occurring on the surface so if I'm done with deco, I'm going back to the boat.

If at all possible, I always wait for my buddy to finish his deco obligation, that way he's not left in the water alone, which was the scenerio Sunday on the Hydro dive. We usually try to assure that we have the same gases, especially our bailout and deco gases, so our profiles are the same, but that does not always end up being the case.

Thanks guys, I'm enjoying the thread (and the video). I'll be doing the Hydro in April (OC, though). What was the temp shallow (say, above 70')? I'll be beinging my drysuit. Do many people do the Hydro dry?

Rick,

I dive dry on all decompression dives, no matter where they are done. I just alter the underwear utilized.

What am I missing??
Doing this dive on OC with a 40 minute BT and a single deco gas (50%) and I'll be out of the water in with a RT under 90 minutes.

Here is what you are missing.

I ran your OC plan at 160 fsw for 40 minutes and ean50. Decoplanner shows a 100 minute BT. However, it requires 150 cf of 21/35 and 63 cf of ean50.

I can do the same dive on CC, but I only need about 4 cf of O2 and 5 cf of 21/35.

Hey Guys,

I was just putting my Optima together for tomorrow's dive and I happen to take a look at the log on my VR3 - I don't know where my head was today, but my run time for Sunday's dive was actually 96 minutes.

Sorry for the mis-information. And now, you'll please excuse me while I go take my foot out of my mouth!

V-planner is my SW of choice and it has me OOW in 85 minutes.
And my SAC rate must be better as well:
No failures - normal dive - OK
118.4 cu ft Trimix 21.0/35.0
30.1 cu ft Nitrox 50.0
148.5 cu ft TOTAL

And I'm not missing $10k plus :D

Brian,

I just used Decoplanner's defaults. I'm sure if I plugged in my SAC and changed the GFs that the time and gas would come down some.

Still 9-10 cf of trimix and O2 kicks the ***** out 148! :D

The difference in weight on the back is incredible as well, and when I sell the unit someday, I'm sure I'll get at least 5K. That means the amortization of the unit over the number of dives is only half of what you stated. :eyebrow:

Anyway, not what this thread is about. Hope you liked the video. So what do you guys have planned in the next couple of weeks?

and how much scrubber material?

Sorb has come down tremendously in the past 6 months.

We buy 44lbs of Sofnolime for $125. I use 5lbs every 4 hours.

That's about $14 a fill, or about $3.50 per hour (conservatively).

We use the more expensive Sofnolime 8-12. Sodasorb is a little cheaper.

Nothing. Although decompression is not a race, you can do this dive in under 90 minutes TRT on CCR. I don't have 160 tables in front of me, but my 180-foot CCR tables have me out of the water in 95 minutes after a 40 minute bottom time. And the HYDRO is more like a 150-160 foot dive.

So, what your saying is 96 minutes diving w/ Howard just FEELS like 120 minutes?

Now I get it... :rofl3:

/note: to the untrained eye, we're all good friends just givin' each other friendly ribbing..../
