Dive Location: Vets
Buddy(ies): Angelique
Time: 8:59 pm.
Bottom Time: 1 Hour 2 Min
Max Depth: 93 fsw
Vis: 10-15 feet
Wave height: 2-3
Temp at depth: 57F
Surface Temp: 54F
When we got to Vets we saw Scott, Kevin, Mike and Mike coming out of the water with big smiles on their faces. I know at this point that the conditions were looking good. They reported the vis was spotty to good and the surface from the parking lot looked pretty glassy. There were a few decent sized waves coming in that were pitching and not mushy.
We geared up and decided to start at the middle steps go out to around 90 and then work our way south. Getting out was uneventful and it was a quick kick to the end of the pier. We dropped into decent vis but there seemed to be a bit of surge going on. As we made our way out to the canyon, the surge subsided and things were pretty normal. Our mission was to find a baby GSB which we accomplished almost immediately at around the same depth that Scott last saw his on their previous dive. We also ended up running into everyone again underwater at around 70 feet.
Tonight was a tricky photo night. You will notice that my pictures are sub par. This was due partially to the Angelique silt out situation (URGH!!!) and also my light positioning was not that good. Its tricky to get the right lighting with a Light Cannon. You have to be careful not to make the light too hot with white out results.
Overall, we had a great dive and saw many interesting creatures. We were lucky enough to run into a small Guitar Fish which is rare at Vets and we also ran into a tiny baby Horn Shark.
Below are the sub par photo highlights .lol
