Hi-- I was reading one of the other threads and it was mentioned that both the Venture 360 and Venture EXP both have tabs to prevent the taco effect-- is that correct? I don't have an LDS close by so I haven't been able to see them up close.

I was looking for a wing to dive in MA 7-14mm wetsuit and either a single steel LP80 or HP80.
Thanks

I had the same question when I was considering buying the Venture a couple of months back. I couldn't find any description or pictures of how the tab worked. My understanding (and it's possible I'm wrong ) is that the venture 360 did not have the tabs but the EXP does. I chose to use the tabs but you can remove the clips and choose not to use the tab feature. I've attached an image that hopefully helps. I have the Transplate harness. The webbing comes out of the backplate and a plastic connection to the tab is threaded through. At that point the webbing goes into the base plate. The plastic tab is free to move along the webbing. Let me know if you have any other questions about it. I've gotten a few dives in and I really like the Venture.

Hi Segundo I was reading your thread and that prompted my question. So does that piece of webbing also come with the Venture exp? Picture really helps! I dive a transpac which I really like. Comfort wise it can't be beat.

So if you didn't clip this and used a steel HP80 do you get the dreaded taco effect? I have a used Trek wing and if I am doing a shallow dive I can't dump the air effectively. ( I was looking at Scuba Toys sale on the old style of the Venture 360.)

Unfortunately I can't really speak to how the wing looks without the clips. The trek is meant to be something of a hybrid between single and double tank setups whereas the venture is meant to be used just for single tanks. Because of this I think the venture has less taco effect so the tabs may only provide a marginal benefit.

Also, the webbing is just a part of the harness. Only the plastic clip and the plastic sliding tab come with the wing. You would simply need to unthread the waist part of the harness to get beyond the base plate to insert the plastic piece and then rethread your harness.

The Venture 360 does not have the clip thing. I'm looking at mine right now as we speak.

And I don't know whether or not I suffer the taco effect but I never had any problem with dumping all my air out at any depth with the Venture wing while diving single tank in either HP100 or HP120.

fnfalman that is really good to know about your wing. My buoyancy skills have really suffered as a result not to mention a little scary.

Hi there,

If you'll PM me your address, we'll send you the clips and the retaining tabs to use on your Trek wing or a Venture wing. They should come with a Venture 360 or Venture EXP.

Thanks
Kathleen

Kathleen,

Since that my Venture 360 didn't come with the clips and tabs, may I request for some as well? I don't even know if I need them but if you're going to give them out, what the heck, I'll take some.

Thanks Kathleen, this is why I buy Dive Rite products!
