I went yesterday and today. My brother found 2 megs yesterday and I found 1 today along with the small stuff. It was a nice day out there today.

True, without a visual, it's impossible to know. I thought she originally said ridges, now I see grooves. Senility rears its ugly head.

FYI - I felt like trying a new dive so I dove Golden Beach on Saturday. I parked at Alhambra and walked "south" on the beach to the second drain pipe and headed due west from there. The walk was longer than I anticpated and was more than a little tired when I arrived at the drain pipe.

Vis was ~10ft
Depth for most of dive was between 18-20ft

It was exciting to dive a new spot, but I have much better luck at Alhambra (ie first drain pipe). There are the typical scattering of small teeth, sting ray fossils ...etc but I did not find any megs there. On the plus side - I did notice more marine life than at Alhambra or Venice Beach (guitar fish, sea horses) which was pretty cool.

Summary - Next time I will probably just dive from drain pipe #1 instead of making the walk to drain pipe #2 or venture out from a different location (Service Club, Casperson ..etc).

Good morning guys :blinking:
I will get a pic of the pieces when i get home from work tonight and post ;)
Yes ridges/groves one one side only very uniform ... one of the piece looks like an end piece for it is the only one slightly curved and the ridges come to a end. The rest are very staight.

Hard to see in that photo, but it looks like you have both ray dental plates and barbs. The only one I can see clearly enough to be sure of this the one in the lower right - dental plate.

The upper left looks like it might be a barb. Got a light you can use to take another pic?

Yes it is hard to tell in the pic :shakehead ...but i think all on the left are barbs and all on the right are plates .... how cool is that :crafty: Thanks guys ;)
