Sharkey's on the pier....South Harbor drive. Try the grouper wrap. Captain Eddies on 41.......Try the shrimp and lobster bisque, its a must have after a cold water dive.

The Frosted Mug for cheap dogs, burgers, and beer. South on 41, 1856 Tamiami Trl S.

Hands down, the best place to eat in the Venice area is Pop's Sunset Grille in Nokomis, just a little bit North of Venice. Head North on 41 from Venice and turn left on Albee Rd. right across from the Ford Dealership. Go down Albee until you see Gulf Harbor Marina. Turn left at Circuit Dr. You'll run right into it.

Anita's Family Restaurant is decent, with a pretty good selection
441 Tamiami Trl S, Nokomis, FL

Also, just after a dive ice cream is good - two places I know of on Venice avenue but we usually stop at Kilwin's.

I agree with wormzer, the frosted mug is the best. I love their rootbeer. We always eat there whenever we go to Venice, expecially if we find something good. The bacon blue cheese burger is really good (but greasy) and their all you can eat fish is awesome.

Thanks guys. I ended up eating at Marker 4 right by the dive shop one night. Drinks were good, food was not. Not a fish on the menue was local and all crab dishes, including crab cakes were made with imitation crab meat. Overpriced, but that's expected at a place on the water. To top it all off I got sick.

We also ate at a little breakfast place that was pretty good. I forget the name but it had a 57 chevy on the wall inside and lots of Americana. I think it may have been Anitas.

We also ate at another seafood place on 41, good atmosphere, live music, decent food. I forget the name, but I remember a statue of a pig in snorkle gear out front.

We hit Captain Eddies last time and liked it a whole lot more than either of the seafood places above.

Thanks for the input I'll have to check out some of the frosty mug, and Pops next time.

Captain Eddie's Family Seafood is the best place we found to eat when we were down there in March. I recommend getting a slice of Key Lime Pie for dessert. The restaurant connected to Florida West Scuba is also great.

Left Coast Seafood was like eating at a retirement home and Shogun Japanese Steakhouse is horrible. The food was horrible and one person became sick after eating at Shogun.
