I connected my mk25 evo and d420 2nd stage to a 32% tank.

I was about to do the usual sniff and taste (because not diving with my usual dive center).
Before I could even sniff, I noticed, what appeared as mist/ vapor coming out of my scuba pro d420 2nd stage.
Not gushing out. Just slowly coming out.

What is this?
Weather temp is 26-28 celcius here. Tank was stored under the shade on the boat.

I sniffed and tasted it. No smell or taste.
I changed to another 32% tank and it did not happen again.

What's going on?

Unsure if this is related but my 2nd stage started leaking air yesterday. Just a small hiss when connected to the 1st stage and tank valve open.
Would this have anything to do with the vapor?

Thank you!

Any chance the reg was drying out in the heat/sun for a while, and on 1st pressurization some trapped water vapor that evaporated inside just went out (given the hiss/slight leak)?

Without speculating on the mist, peel the sticker back on the top and give the spring about 1/16 turn (I think 6mm hex) and see if the hiss stops. If that works cool but a service may be in the near future.

Yep, that may resolve the hiss. But mist?

This is what chat gpt conjured:

Gentle Air Leaks: Minor leaks from the second stage, due to either intermediate pressure creep or high sensitivity settings, could manifest visually as a mist or vapor, particularly in humid environments or under specific lighting conditions

The only mist I can imagine one way or another (besides some contamination in the tank) is some left over water somewhere between the tank valve and the 2nd, like an airbrush.. if I dunk a 2nd in the water and take out and purge I get a jet of mist — tho you said it was slow flow

And probably not replicatd on the 2nd tank as the water was out already

gpt might be right but we’re just guessing here without having something more to go on 🤷🏽‍♀️

But as Lex said, service soon

That’s likely it
