See what good things can come from an old thread? Valves, harrowing car stories, machine shop work, lock-in humor.

@Schwob I'm glad to read you take ownership of your own safety - and are the judge of your own problems. If you spend some time in a dive maintenance shop you'll see the tools and techniques actually used - and you'll feel even more strongly about doing as much as you can for yourself. Many of the tools are regular tools that some dive equipment manufacturer put a shiny sticker on and increased the price by an order of magnitude.

As for "Padi Pro" being some kind of bragging point, perhaps you ascribe something special to it, which I do not. I'm sure you'll not be surprised to learn that there are as many silly cards and levels to the Padi instructor levels as there are for the regular qualifications. All of the levels and certs for instructors are just lumped into the term Padi Pro.

Unfortunately, your joke is closer to the mark than you realize about specialties - If you wanted to, you could probably write a specialty called Thread Resuscitation Specialist and get it approved right now as the whole industry is reeling from the COVID lockdown and they're desperate for cash flow.

Safe diving.
