My lightly-used 1973 always checked out fine with the inspector at Florida Technical Scuba. They closed.

The next shop:

-Would fill it if he inspected it, and it passed
-Said he failed all the old ones if regardless of good or bad
-Asked if I wanted mine inspected.

I could not fight that logic. The original family tank had to go.
 
New aluminum 6061 alloy tanks are so cheap and trouble free there is no reason to foolwith an old aluminum tank.

Despite some confusion on this board, the 6061 tanks are not prone to SLC and are not required to have the NDT testing. There is no problem having them filled anywhere.

Sans the shops that have signs that say:

"We do no fill cylinders made before 1990"

Saw this in the Keys last fall.
