In the United States, however, where a single dose of rabies vaccine can exceed $400
I've always used Passport Health. They're a national clinic with a good number of locations. Please let us know how easily you find it tracking down sources for these. The Hepatitis vaccines should be easy; I'm curious about the Chikungunya and typhoid vaccine availability.
Been in Bali for a week on my way to Raja Ampat Lembeh and Bangka...my 22nd time here in 20 years...get a flu shot and covid...bring Pepto and a Zpack...you will fine...and for your ears..ear beer..you can make at home!...oh yes Bug replant.....Enjoy!When I went to Passport Health, I saw a nurse practitioner. The consultation was a general Indonesia one, not specific to Raja Ampat or to diving. It was exactly the, same as,what the CDC has on their website. She pushed their emergency medicine kit and their anti-diarrhea kits, both available at inflated prices. She could not give any advice for ear medication for diving. To get any antibiotics for diarrhea cost an additional $35 and a separate phone call. It was totally useless. I did not learn anything I did not already know. However, they may be the only source of certain vaccines in my area. I regard them as a useless ripoff and not true travel medicine at all.
EDITED (mixed up my drugs):For our upcoming trip to Raja for 14 days then Thailand for 3 weeks, we met with our county health department travel nurse. She was very knowledgeable and had mapped out the specific areas we were traveling to and what vaccines to take. Our list included current influenza, covid booster, typhoid shot, chikungunya, malaria (malarone) tabs., Hep. A single shot, cipro and Imodium. My wife and I both have had Hep. B and A shots in the past but it was many years ago so the Hep. A was more of a booster shot. All of this including the meds. were covered by Medicare part D. I was very impressed with the help and information that they provided.
We purchased a few large bottles of Picaridin to treat our clothes and have Deet in every possible form imaginable, along with one of those little machines that cover a 20ft. area for our room at night.
I am a bit pissed off that the Dengue shot is not approved in the US. During our 6 week trip to Curacao this year several people staying next door to us were infected.
Now my biggest concern is surviving the 18 flight. Lol
