Your plate should contact the cylinders, with just the wing in between. As an alternative to a "V" weight consider using soft weight pouches between the wing and the plate.

Take a 2" piece of webbing and poke/melt two holes in it. One hole will be so that you can bolt through the webbing and the weight so that the webbing is attached to the weight. The other hole should be on the other end of the webbing, far enough away from the weight that when you put the bolt on the band through it, the weight sits below/aft of the band in between the tanks.

This is a commercial version, but you get the idea. Your weight looks a little different, but the goal is to get it to sit between the tanks, not in between the band and the backplate.

I find this solution from Halcyon to be a little more versatile, as you can put weight where you need it and distribute it however your exposure protection requires.

+1 What they said...

Try making the holes in the V weight larger on the tank side so the nut goes inside the weight. This will help move it closer to the tank. Not sure if you'll still have enough room. As mentioned the plate should contact the cylinders.

Did the v-weight already come with those wholes? Can't you just place it between the bolts? That would move it against the cylinders, as it also appears you have a gap there, and enable the backplate to rest against the cylinders as well.

Marc, get rid of the nut that's between the weight and the band. That'll make it closer to where it should be. Make sure you use a lock washer on the wing nut on the plate. If your bolts are too long you may have to cut them down.

That nut is pretty important. Its the one that makes the bands tight.

Good catch AJ, sorry, I should of said move the nut on top of the weight and see if that's secure enough.......if not make some space for the nut to fit countersunk to the weight...........it's late, I'm going to bed.

Could you take a picture of just the weight. and the weight on top of the tanks without the plate?
