My Smart Tec failed yesterday. It worked fine on my 1st dive then would not read the tank pressure for the 2nd dive. I have tried it with a tank and it will not read the pressure. There is the service symbol ( a little wrench ) now showing on the display and the manual says send in for service. I am spending a month in Mexico and still have 2 weeks left and we like to dive as much as possible. I have 2 sets of these ( one for me / one for wife ) and the other is working fine. Had these Smart Tecs for 4 years, 300 + dives, never a problem. Sent them in for new batteries in May 2008 and Uwatec / Scubapro sent me two new computers. Never could get a straight answer on why I got new ones. My mind just wanted to know, it seems it would have been cheaper for them to change the batteries, but getting new ones are not a bad thing. I have dove maybe 50 times on this new one, then it stopped yesterday. I guess I am going to see a friend that owns a shop and borrow a SPG with hose and replace the transmitter. The computer seems to work without the integrated air, I have just got use to my setup and never had any problems for 4 years until now. Oh well, maybe someone can know the secret trick to fix it without sending it in.
