Thanks johnny!

I'm really liking the aladin prime and I think I might get it. I just have to figure out is it worth the extra cost to get the tec2G. I leave in the east and don't have anywhere for high altitude diving (although the prime does do altitude somewhat from what I understand). I don't dive mixed gases (nitrox at the most). I still get the data profiles and PP02 variability. Is there anything in the Tec2G that should make me want to jump at it over the prime if I'm a recreational diver?

Well, only thing I see relating to altitude is the difference between salt water and fresh water for altitude diving. The Prime will read everything as salt water, so you have some added conservatism there, shouldn't be a huge difference.

The Tec also does max depth alarms and such, bookmarking during the dive. Nothing I consider overly important though.

Thanks for the link to the USB-IRDA Johnny!

As far as the infrared goes, you dont need a very expencive device to use it. I bought a $20 USB irda port and it works like a charm (in both vista and XP, just like the software that came with the computer).
irda is a standard, no need for some expensive branded device. If you plan to use it with a laptop you might have all you need on the computer already..

Speaking of $20 IR devices, I just got one for the Prime that I just got and the driver seemed to blue-screen XP. I had to System Restore. Anyone have that problem and if not what driver are you using? ( Don't really mean to get into a software discussion, but would like to set up the Uwatec software!)

Thanks,

The irda adapters everyone is using, are they with XP or Vista? I have one that worked on XP, but not on Vista. I'd like one that works. Any tips/suggestions on drivers or installation for Vista?

Im with both and it works with both..
Just to make it even more complex, my vista is 64 bit
