Well a little update since my original post. My wife and I are heading to Roatan. Utila would be great if we wanted to dive all day, but she is a relatively new diver (only certified since July) and is likely to dive only 6-8 dives total for the week. I, on the other hand, will dive at least 10 dives.

The other couple backed out due to the other wife's work commitment, but they are still seeing if they can juggle something. It was in fact not too late to plan something for the week actually. I looked at several options, and when I discussed it with my lovely wife, she opted for Coconut Tree Divers. My wife is very sympathetic to my dive-fixation. She is cool with me doing a ton of dives, and she will just run up a Massage tab somewhere. I join her for 1-2 a week though.

We did look at renting a place for a week, but when the other couple jumped, we decided against it. It would have been way more fun with another couple. We also looked at hiring a cook for the week, again, that became unnecessary.

All in all, we are looking forward to the trip obviously and I really appreciate all the insight. If Kevin had come, we may have gone to Utila for a day or two, but we would not have needed to leave the ladies. They would have joined us and let us feed our need. We of course always reciprocate by doing some event or tour they want to do more than we do. I love diving. But I love my wife more.

For your needs, here are some suggestions.

Utila ... I was there a week ago. I would recommend Laguna Beach Resort. I posted something on the "Utila & the Big 30" thread, if you are interested.

Roatan ... I would recommend Anthony's Key for good diving and good topside. We stayed there last August. It is close to the West End by a quick taxi ride, if you want to go out for dinner or an adult beverage.

Between Roatan and Utila, Roatan might suit your needs better. There is slightly more to do. I would like to try CoCoView for south side diving on Roatan, but haven't been there, yet!
