Using Ranger wings with a back plate

No problems at all doing this.
Just grab yourself a Zeagle Backplate, comes with a boltkit so you can slap your wing straight on.

Yes you can fo this with any Zeagle bladder. In fact the tech and Ranger harness can even be pinched between the BP and cylinders and work quite fine

If the goal is to reduce drag and simplify the equipment, then why would one want to do that?
 
I've been diving a Ranger wing on a backplate and even put it on a small plastic backpack for traveling and diving singles. Couple of advantages:

1. Saves money. Use extra money for trips.
2. Its a nice wing for small doubles. I have a set of double HP80s and a 40lb wing is all I need, even with sling bottles diving dry.

As for the little clips on the side of the wing, I found some of the same clips at REI (hiking store) and so attached the female side to the belt slide on my waist strap that holds the D rings in place and clipped the wing off. Works great. I really don't know if this is needed but I figured for a total cost of about $2.00 I might as well do it.
