If I had a wing in the 30# range (to accommodate a 7mm wetsuit), could I still use that for warm water diving? I know a smaller wing would be ideal. Would the larger wing be unmanageable?

I use a Golem 35# wing for single tank diving, warm water. Works great and this is what it's designed to do.

There are smaller wings for warm water diving, but the 30# oval wings are very compact.

Diminishing returns - no need for something smaller than a 30 if you already have a 30.

Mach V 30# is a great cold and warm water wing. I use a 30# Signature wing for cold and warm water diving with no issues. As said above a 30# wing is not a big wing. 40# on the other hand is too big for single tank diving period. My 30# floats my HP130, when full, with a weighted back plate...barely, but it does stay at the surface.

Ever see a Mach V 40#?

Ever dive an X-8 119 in fresh water?

Got me there. I used to have a 40# Mach V. It was a good wing. I was thinking more along the dual purpose wings for single and double tank diving, or like a SP Knighthawk that is way more lift than needed.

I used my HP130 in fresh water with my weighted back plate and 30# wing with no issues. Might have been negative I can't remember, since I always use a tag line off my boat, and sinking rigs are nothing new.
