Im just curious how many of you guys use old equipment like I do
all of my equipment is from mid 80's or earlier with the exeption of my BC, fins and mask

I've even been know to dive with an old 1969 aqua-lung aquarius regulator, It completely rebuilt and works fine but it sure does get strange looks

It's very common for people to use older gear. My regular set of gear was all bought in 1988. I have never had the need to replace it. And looking into the vintage section of the board is really a good thing to do if you are interested in that sort of thing.

I love diving my vintage gear, but I still dive modern gear on most of my dives.

If I lived somewhere warm it would definitely be the other way around.

Oh well, at least I don't have to worry about hurricanes in Ohio. Not much consolation in December when I have to drive through a snow storm to get to the quarry, only so I can freeze half to death getting in and out of my gear.

Mid 80s isn't vintage. It's modern gear. There have been no significant improvements in dive gear since. There's no performance reason to replace gear from the mid 80s as lond as it's not broken.

I have my old gear but I don't dive it any longer. New stuff is too comfortable to ignore :)

I just changed to some of the newer fins from the 70's SCUBA PRO I was wearing. The new ones are really sweet, but miss the feelings of history I got looking at the old ones. (the shark teeth marks, the scrapes from running into rocks, etc, etc.).

At least you know the stuff works.

mid 80's is the absolute newest
most of my stuff is 70's caving equipment
or stuff i made myself, lol

As long as you can still get it serviced it should still be fine. I'll have to disagree that there have been no major improvements since the 80's. New, high end regs beat older ones hands down for breathing and comfort. A new back inflate, weight integrated BC beats an old jacket style with a weight belt in my book.
