I am able to deal with the “red” tint of objects illuminated by the light and filter. Constantly removing and replacing the filter is too much work.
And that's the approach I was going to take. So if it does become to much of a hassle to remove and replace the filter, I will need a method for correcting the color in post. I might try the effectiveness of WB cards. I think that will work. First I need lights.:headscratch:

Like others have said, during the day, the lights only come into play when you are a few feet from the subject.

The big light manufacturers and salespeople have done a very good job marketing and convincing people lights are a requirement for shooting video. Lights are need for night dives and can help improve colors on day dives for certain shots. In general for day dives in open water, a filter alone is the best choice.

If you are going to buy lights be realistic on what kind of diving you do and how much the lights will improve your footage. People are free to spend their money any way they like, but I don't understand why some spend thousands of dollars on lights for the $300 GoPro.

Double the lumens does not translate to the lights looking twice as bright. The trends is to push for more and more powerful lights. 1000, 2000, 4000, 10,000 lumens. At some point it is better to spend money on a more capable camera.
