Question for all you...tell me what you think some gear I am considering buying would be worth...all of the equipment although not new has never been used or seen water. It was bought new and stored. In fact it is all in the original manufacturer's boxes with all paperwork still attached.

Aqualung Malibu BC size LG - has weight integrated pockets.
Aqualung Titan Reg set up
Aqualung Octo
Aqualung Pivot 2 gauge console
All hoses

Like I said this gear is showroom condition, nothing has ever been assembled or been used and still all in the original boxes with tags, etc

Best I can tell this gear would probably retail for over $800-$1000 when bought new.

Curious what your thoughts are, how much would you realistically give for it. I think I could purchase it all for about $400.....

MSRP is about $1100.

$400.00 sounds like a good deal. Depending upon how long and under what conditions it was stored, I would have the spg, reg and octo checked by an AL dealer before use.

I would find the value new, subtract 40~50%, and start there. The seller will want as much as possible for the gear. You want to pay as little as possible. You just need to find some common ground. If he wants 90% or retail value, I'd consider buying new, but that is up to you.

You can use LP as a new price guide. However if they purchased this new at an LDS, their starting price (what they paid) may already be a lot more than your starting price from an online store.

Also, remember you will need to drop another $75.00-$100.00 on the reg set to get it serviced. Many people forget about this little detail when buying used regs. Even if they have just been sitting for more than a year it is best to them serviced. Be sure to submerge the hoses and spg while pressurized to ensure they are in decent shape. $400 seems like a good price.

I concur with this advice! Get the gear checked, and set up by a qualified tech before you attempt to dive with it...sounds like a pretty good deal! (you may want to check locally to see if there is a qualified tech for that brand as well)

When you take the gear into a tech, ask him to check & adjust it. I would expect that all it needs is some minor adjustment of the 2nd stages. Cost should be less than half that of a complete (and probably unnecessary) service. If he finds more problems than can be fixed with adjustments, then a more expensive service may be required.
