Hi,
in January we have released the virtual dive site of the Spiegel Grove and now we are preparing the virtual dive site for the USCG Duane.

We have located GPS coordinates for the stern (24ް 59.388' N and 80ް 22.888' W) but we need the GPS coordinates for the bow so we can properly orient the ship in the scene.

Does anyone know the GPS coordinates for the bow of the Duane AND/OR the orientation (yaw) of the ship?

Once we are done you will be able to explore the USCG Duane in 3D :D

Thanks

We got updated GPS coordinates and yaw for the Duane from Capt. Gary (thank you :D) so we are now able to position the ship in the site.

Here a first view of the crow's next of the Duane in 3D using our simulator:

We should be able to release the virtual dive site of the USCGC Duane before the end of this week.

Thank you for you efforts in bringing us the views few of us get to see on a regular basis.

It is my pleasure :D

By the way, do you know how many buoys / descent lines are there on the Duane?

Looking at various videos I saw 2 descent lines: one on the bow and one on the smoke-stack.

Are there others buoys / descent lines? Where? Do you have images?

I also noticed that on the descent lines there is some kind of a small ball midwater ... is that the 15ft marker?

Thanks

I have to look to see what I have for the Duane. I know I have some pics of her sister the Bibb. As far as lines, there are 3. Bow starboard side anchor bollard, midships on the smokestack port side, and stern.I know the balls that you are referring to, but I dont think they are the 15 foot markers. They could be, but as I have been on her only 2x, I cant swear to it. I think they are on almost all of the wrecks so that if the main ball carries away for wahtever reason, its easier to reattach the main balls, rather than try and repull 100 some odd feet of line thru the water column.
