Hi,

I recently picked up a Calypso VI (not IV) and took it apart to clean it. From what I read in this thread, Vintage Double Hose • View topic - Calypso HP seat questions... , there was a brass bushing installed in later Calypso models between the seat and the chrome plated bushing that holds the piston's oring and back up oring. Although mine has Calypso VI printed on the screw cap, but it has no bushing. The seat does have what looks like a hollow brass rivet passing through it. I’ve read about brass tubes being present in the seats from other threads and assume that this may be the same thing described in those threads.

Does anyone have information on the extra brass bushing and whether they are available? From what I can tell from dates punched on the hose protector, it appears to have been serviced at least as recently as 1983. Since there appears to have been a recall out at that time, I would have expected to see this added brass bushing if that was the fix. I’ve also looked for the dimple near the yoke clamp and do not see any dimple.

Also, what is the purpose of the cap on the end of the regulator opposite the LP hose connection? It seems that it has to be tightened down to get the oring to seat and that it has no adjustment function. Maybe it’s just for access for cleaning?

Finally, did the US Divers regulator serial numbers have the date stamped into them as the first two digits? My Conshelf regulator has 82XXXX stamped into the primary and the secondary that came with this Calypso started with 77XXXX. The primary on the Calypso VI, however starts with a 73XXXX.

The cap at the end of the regulator can be replaced with a reserve mechanism and that would convert it into a Calypso J.

I have one with the bushing and one without. The bushing was added to hold the seat in place, but most of them did not have it.

I don’t know were you could get a bushing, other than getting lucky with some dive shop that has been around for a while and may happen to have some old stock.

Good luck

Do you have the dimensions for the bushing? I work in a machine shop and run a water jet. Would any of you know if there would be a market for custom cut parts for these older regs? Have access to brass, ss, al, and in thicknesses from .003 on up to .5 or better
