When we went down from Vancouver we went through US customs in YVR, and didn't have to go through customs in Houston.

On the way back we had our luggage checked through and they put some sort of special sticker on our ticket, i think it was a green T or something. When we got to Houston the lady saw those stickers and directed us into the nexus card/staff/what have you line. Took 5 minutes. I'm not sure if that is standard on the way back, but I sure wasn't complaining.

Thanks Hawkwood, I'll look into that in the future. I'd seen the machines for that but thought it was only for US citizens.
There only select cities in the US where you can use the card coming into the US from a country other than Canada. Houston and San Francisco are two of them. The card is also becoming useful for travel within Canada - there are now special lines at security for NEXUS holders - much shorter.

Really, nexus access at domestic lines? That might make it worth it for me. I hadn't bothered since I only go out of country usually once a year.
