Capriccio - Lola has a fabulous wine list to go along with the incredible food. Request a table outside, inside the noise level is equal to a jet engine with lots of flat tile walls and floors for sound to bounce off. Cuba Compagnie - great food, more mid-scale prices, located right on the square in Kralendijk. Try the crispy bread and ceviche. Wils and Mona Lisa are two more perennial favorites.

Always make reservations and don't leave home without the bug spray.

You also asked about off the beaten path - try the Rose Inn, Rincon. Very local vibe and flavor. Last we were there they were only doing lunch a few days a week. Local establishment, dining under pop up tents or the trees, grab a few beers and a plate of goat stew and plantains. After that stop at the Cadushy distillery for a frozen drink and tour, then see Norman at Le Me Sa for the best milkshakes.

Then try to find the remains of Tanki Maraka. Have a great trip!

Capriccio was quite good. I enjoyed an escellent fillet mignon as I'm not a fish eater. Their pasta and wine list were also amazing. I also enjoyed La Balandra, which is the house restaurant at Harbour Village. Give Harbour Village a call to check their times etc. We ate everything from Breakfast to dinner and never had a bad meal. It's right on the water and has an excellent view at any time of the day.
