I'm a Fish!
Hi Folks,
We have an urchin dive coming up on Sunday 6/29 at Stillwater Cove, Sonoma County.
If you're new please read the stickies I have at the top for gear and procedure information.
If you have any questions at all please ask.
I expect the water to be cold with all the wind we've been having but the water will be clean.
We're going to look for kelp starts and make sure all the urchins are cleared out around them so they have a fighting chance.
Hope to see a big turnout this coming Sunday!
Thanks!
Eric

We had a great day yesterday!!
The first thing I want to mention is our new freediver Melissa, she's an instant urchin diving rock star.
Most people show up, they are unfamiliar, we help them and have a briefing, some come under equipped even though they have been advised on what they'll need, etc. So they dive and might get 25 lbs. 27 lbs. maybe a new diver does well and gets 45 or 50lbs. and this is on scuba.
Melissa is a brand new freediver, she has about 12 or 13 freediving sessions in now. That's days of diving because freediving you're up and down so much you really can't count individual dives.
The first time she was there two weeks ago she pulls 121 lbs. freediving.
Yesterday she pulled 185 lbs. freediving!!
I have never been so impressed!
So I think some of you people that are reading this and may have been involved in some capacity at some point need to take note and step up your game. And most of you are on SCUBA! Come on man!
Yesterday we had 7 divers in the water.
We have almost 100 people on our list.
Our turnouts are pathetic.
If you were interested enough to sign up then why aren't you there??

A view of the cove at minus tide first thing in the morning.

It was nice. Fog in the morning that cleared to a nice sunny day. No wind, the tide gently spilled in bringing clean water in with it. Never a beach break just ankle slappers all day.
I burned two 120's for a total time of three hours underwater.
We totaled 1023 lbs. for the day.
The beach was busy, Marin Dive Center had a rescue class going on too.
There was a whale that was frolicking just outside of the cove. I missed it because I was underwater, but everyone said it was pretty close in.
Every day I spend out there just becomes more magical. The fish are coming back in droves.
I'm seeing more abalone too.
