Hey FFM,

It looks like a prototype helmet made for the movie "The Sphere"

Kirby Morgan manufactured a few for the film, if you look close near the rear of the helmet you will see a small KMDSI diamond and the headcushion is a typical KM unit.

The units were desinged to show the actors faces not for function or efficiency, they did use a fold up oral nasal mask internally to try and decrease the build up of CO2 but as you already stated this was a big problem with all the dead space in the helmet.

My Edit - This is in response to your second photo FFM, do you have the information on the first mask. I do not recognize it...

Cool! Have you ever tried Chlorodent?

Rmediver2002 fascinating pictures of you with the dive helmet. I'm turning green with envy here in my office... it must have been an honor to don those antiques.

As far as the mask in the first pic: I found it on ebay. Its apparently part of a suit. The unit is currently $300. Item number 3640365150 please tell us more about it. And if you plan on purchasing it, please let me know. I would like to hear your thoughts on it.

:whoop:

Have you tried contacting the seller to see what project it was designed for?

Very interesteing unit, I have not seen anything like it...

It was such a great experience getting to dive the old rigs... I went through school when they were teaching the MK-12 and the MK-21 (superlite-17) so it was neat to finally try it. Many of the older divers I worked with used the MK-V as the primary rig for many years...

These were all taken at the Historical Diving Society conference in Largo this year.

I like the Miller in your profile FFM, do you have one?

Great to dive, and going to be even better soon...

Dive Lab is doing some really interesting work on a new Miller right now, it should be great when released...

Cool! Have you ever tried Chlorodent?

Am I missing something?
