More Honors For An Okoboji Teen Who Saved The Life Of A Fellow Scuba Diver Earlier This Year In The Iowa Great Lakes
(Okoboji)-- More honors for an Okoboji teen who saved the life of a fellow diver in May of this year the Iowa Great Lakes.

18-year-old Calvin Grosvenor was recently honored by the National Association of Underwater Instructors, or NAUI, with their 2020 Albert Pierce Medal of Heroism.

Calvin, who was 17 at the time, saved the life of fellow scuba diver Jesse Fletchall who suffered a brain embolism nearly 30 feet below the surface of West Lake Okoboji. Jesse's regulator fell out of his mouth and Calvin forced it back in, purging air into Jesse's lungs several times to force the water out. Calvin was able to get Jesse to the surface and swam 100 yards to shore where he performed CPR until rescue crews arrived.

Calvin was to receive an expenses paid trip to the NAUI world wide annual conference in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to receive the award, but due to covid it was presented via zoom conference.
