United recently announced they would start flying a new route, SFO-MNL (direct) starting at the end of October.
For many this may not make a difference on a route that PAL already flies, however for Star Alliance frequent flyer members this will provide additional options. The flight schedule is such that it will land in MNL a little before 7 in the morning, allowing connections to other destinations in PH.
It also creates another interesting route to Palau (SFO-MNL-ROR) that avoids the tight ~45 min connection in Guam on certain days.
