let's recap the last 24 hours OK?
DEMA came back with a statement, they clarified some issues but overall IMHO the underlying issues still remain. DEMA as an organization has lost the plot, many know it. The petition and the fact DEMA responded means we get a chance to do just that, make a telling change to the better or it will end up being not worth it.
One person who signed the petition has reconsidered. I don't agree with his conclusion but sure respect him for saying them.
So we can sure shut up now and NOTHING will change, better or worse and we concede that the industry should give up any semblance of input into our association...or?
By the way, ANYBODY who thinks DEMA is planning to be open or easy to talk to should read the ENTIRE PDF posted on the dema.org website of rules from on high as to the hoops (11 copies, another SHORT time line to submit questions in advance so the BOD is ready, no clapping or anything else and it goes on for two pages), must keep the peasantry in line I guess.....
Spend an hour or two doing some research on scubaboard of actions of the DEMA BOD the last 3 years or so, when a few of us decided to start being public and not letting our fear rule what we say, and make no mistake we ARE afraid. Call some previous BOD members, ask them what went on.... OH..small problem a non profit dive industry association makes elected BOD members sign non disclosure forms before they get to see anything...What the F?????????????????????????????????????????
