Today was the last day of work. Tomorrow will be running errands, packing, and last minute house cleaning. I can't wait!

Seriously... You scared me too. My wife and I are going to Little Cayman on Sunday and my stomach turned when I ready the subject... I guess I'll see you there Becca.
Scott

You'll love it here. Nice resort, great food, excellent dive op. Very friendly and attentive. They don't carry camera bucket on board, they just rinse with a fresh water hose and put them on the camera table. However, if you ask, they will put a cooler on board and fill it with fresh water for you.

Sorry about the camera issue. Other than something like that happening, I don't see how anyone could ever be unhappy on Little Cayman! Be back there in June and can't wait. Starting to count the days!

Unhappy in Little Cayman? I guess only for the first two dives when our gear still hadn't arrived. While very grateful for the free rental gear Reef Divers provided, I was even more grateful when my own stuff finally arrived. Now... I'm unhappy in Michigan because it's cold and we are a long ways from diving season.

P.S. We ended up on the same boat as Scott!

It was great meeting you! Have fun editing editing all the photos and video! Hopefully you will post your stuff online so I can check it out.

Can you duplicate the camera/housing problem at home? Any controls in the housing that can be adjusted to hopefully solve the problem? Control shafts and/or arms usually have a little adjustment in them. If it IS a misalignment issue that cannot be adjusted, then seems like Aquatica should repair/replace your camera & fix the housing issue. Others should have same issue thou if that's the case.

I actually had the exact same problem last September. I was diving off Guadalupe Island with a new D90 and Aquatica housing. Thankfully it didn't break until the last day, so my picture loss was minimal. Also good that the camera was under warranty, so I was only out shipping charges.

I never thought about the housing causing the issue. Since I was shooting great white sharks, I just assumed I my adrenaline got the best of me and I was pressing down on the Aquatica shutter release too hard. However, if other D90 users with other housings aren't experiencing the shutter release break and Aquatica users are, it may be something to look at.

We have seen isolated case of the D90 release breaking off, the design of our shutter release has not changed in over 20 years plus, we right now working on a solution to this camera weakness, this is being tested at the moment and once it is cleared it will be made available to any user that wishes to request one, its a simple installation and no modification on the housing is be required.

Stat's are to rviewed carefully, our main Japanese competitor did not bother with this model and other of Chinese and European manufacturer, are quite honestly, a lot more recent on the market or less distributed, as a consequence we do have quite a large user base of this camera housings, so as percentage goes, as I said, its a few isolated case not even reaching the 1% of all units sold, this does not mean we do not take this seriously, quite the opposite, we got the enginnering team to look into it and have them come up with a make everybody happy solution. again the shutter release design of our housing is over 20 years old and has a good track record on all camera models so far, the D90 being the only exception, not for us to stand idle, if a changes need to be made to accomodate the D90's Aquille heel, then change it will be.

Anyone who feels the should need the new release modification can contact me at jean@aquatica.ca

Cheers.
