I would have far more use with a magnifying glass....

I'm going to look for one of those BAM's (Big a.. magnifiers) to take on my next coral reef dive!!!!

Since the indexes of refraction for water and glass are not that far apart, standard magnifiers are disappointingly less effective underwater. You'd probably be better off looking at something like this: ReefNet Inc. | SubSee Magnifier

Yes, it looks cool, not 75.00 cool though. I would love to review it. Could be a good alternative for prescription mask/lenses to read gauges, etc. It does not come near answering the original idea for underwater binoculars though. We've pretty much determined it would never work in the traditional sense.
