I have only dived twice but i yapped all the way through it lol the recognisable things i said were oy!, look at that, chase (fiance's name), wait up, and hold my hand. i said whole sentances but only i knew what i was saying, it was mumbles to everyone else! they could hear me though, so i dont think i would need a whistle or anything, when i get excited i am high pitched lol

I have heard of taking a pvc pipe about 6 inches long, and capping both ends after putting pebbles or other noisy material inside.

I recently made one of these but I haven't tested it yet. I saw a divemaster in Bonaire using one and thought it was very clever.

I still haven't figured out a good way to attach it or stow it.

Ive got a 1 in wide machine bushing on a bungee cord wrapped around every tank I own. Most machine shops will have a piece of scrap steel that they will give away that will fit through the bungee and if you lose it or it breaks who cares. Ive had most of mine on there for a few years and they work well enough to get my buddies attention from 50 to 60 ft away when she is trying to lose me. the bungee is all of a buck at the local flea market and if you make up 1 for every tank its 1 less thing you have to worry about.
