I'm a Fish!
In the new January 2007 issue of UNDERCURRENTS, (subscribe 800-326-1896, email pete@undercurrent.org), new safety and rescue equipment for divers, presented at DEMA, was discussed.

Of interest was the Sea Marshall Lost Diver "SOS" alerting unit, http://www.seamarshall-us.com/plb8ld_us.html
priced at $349 it looks like 'da bomb'.

Other equipment discussed was SCUBuzz, worn as a wrist watch, with 6 individual ID codes---press a button and your buddy's SCUBuzz with that ID will vibrate and flash. Good within a 90 foot radius per specs. www.scubuzz.com

Heaven Diamond, The Red Sea, Egypt was reviewed by a subscriber, wonderful information and tips.

Problems and kudos for manufacturers and resorts are presented, with the diver's perspective foremost.

I highly recommend UNDERCURRENTS...no advertising, great reports by subscribers re: resorts and diving locales, hard hitting, and very readable.

Accurate information:
For motorcycling, Motorcycle Consumer News.
For diving, UNDERCURRENTS.

Edit; thank you DiveMaven!

The value of the ScuBuzz is questionable. Buddy teams should always be close enough to signal and reach each other with ease. Yes, in the real world buddies do get separated but Scubuzz does nothing to help wayward buddies find each other. I suppose you could use it as a means to provide a positive indication that you've invoked the lost buddy protocol, but even that is really a simple function of time.
