Hey all, quick question. I have a PT-015 with a ULCS tray and arm holding up my Inon D180. I'm having a hell of a time trying to adjust this thing underwater and have even dropped the strobe right off the arm (luckily caught it before it hit anything). Can anyone suggest some adjustments for me, or just how to setup it up the best way to just leave it all locked in. Thanks a ton.

That's one big reason I stayed with my Infinity flexi-arm! The secret is to get the tension on the clamps just right. Too tight and you can hardly move them. Too loose and everything flops or falls apart.

It's all too easy (I,know, I did it my first time putting everything together) to mis-assemble them using the "adjustment" wing as one of the clamps. I've read many reports of other people doing the same thing and the end result is no adjustment between locked ,(just barely) and floppy loose. I have no problem with my ULCS arms holding a pair of huge Ike SS200's. Just a thought.

Yep...I did that the first time, too!

Hmm...maybe that's the problem. How does this adjustment wing thing look different from the other stuff? How should I assemble it?

Here is a ULCS clamp. The "wing" on the left is the adjustment clamp. Your ball fits between the 2 on the right. They are slightly larger and have a concave cup milled in to cradle the ball end. Also they have the spring between them.

This is how they should look in use.

This is THE WRONG WAY. The ball is between the adjustment wing and is on the wrong side of the real clamp.

Hope this clears up what we're talking about.

It is a little tricky at first. On land, you just need to clamp down just enough that the strobe won't flop around. It does not need to be very tight then underwater, when your setup is much lighter, then it will be perfect, clamp down enough so that it does not flop around and just loose enough to manipulate.

Whoa! Hello! Thanks for the pictures! That solves my problems. Well, it solves my problems of the setup, not for being a McFly.

Just remember, you weren't the first ! Glad to help. Dave

And not the last. I too got a package deal witha strobe-2000W and wondered how exactly do the clamps fit together correctly since I only received instructions for the strobe itself. That book will take a few days of reading to digest.

Thank you - Another reason I love scubaboard :D
