hi guys,

i'm in the uk fairly new to diving and based in the south east.

anyone able to give any locations for easy dive's where we can play with our kit ? (work out weight etc.)

would be nice to have some visibility (as a bonus)

thanks in advance

This book was often recommended during the first lockdown, however I didn't use it myself:

Top 100 British Shore Dives by Anita Sherwood, Revised Edition

You should be aware that when you do shore diving, you need to be aware of the currents and tides. Ideally find a buddy/group who knows the area.

@BlueTrin thanks for this.

I've been looking for a copy to send to one of my buddies that moved to the UK.

You might want to join a local club. They will know the area, and organise dives .

BSAC branch finder

BEFORE you pay any money, I would suggesting that you check out more than one branch (club). Check they will provide what you want. i.e. don't join a branch that does no training and only deep offshore diving, if you want training and 'easier' local dives. i.e. interview the branches, go along to a few club nights, and if you can some organised dives. Pointless joining a branch that only goes to the pub!

If you were looking for more than one book and your buddy dives England's South Coast, I like this one from the same author: Dive Weekends in South West England. (there are a few sample pages on this link)

It has a bit of basic information about a few popular dive spots for when you want to book a spot on a charter boat on the South and South West English coast (for when the lockdown will stop)
