I have been there during rainy periods, but we always got enough sun for my girlfriend to do her sun basking and to feel like we were on vacation. Rain shouldn't affect your dive plans at all--diving in the rain is no problem. Runoff might compromise the visibility a little, but not enough to complain about. The mosquitos seemed to thicken quite a bit with the rainfall though.

really? huh... here in So-Cal, the rule of thumb is no diving after the rain, cuz the water gets pretty gross. So it never occurred to me we could dive in rain! :P guess they don't have that problem in Bonaire!

So-Cal has nice fertile soil for agriculture. Bonaire has sand and limestone and at best grows cactus and scrub brush. In general, coral reefs thrive in nutrient-poor environments. So the run-off is not much of an issue. Lay on your back and watch the raindrops hit the surface, it's kind of cool.

We're heading to Bonaire on Friday, and I just checked the weather - it shows rainstorms during our entire trip!!! 10 Day Weather Forecast for Bonaire, GA - weather.com

For those in Bonaire, how accurate is this? Should we be worried? I was planning on diving & lounging by the ocean for most of our trip, but the rain may de-rail these plans!!! :( :(

I have some potentially good news for you. The weather report you’re looking at is for Bonaire, Georgia. Try Kralendijk, Bonaire when searching for weather. If you get a hit, you have the right place. If not, you may need to Google for a site that can help. Sorry I don’t have the time to research it a bit more this morning. Off to work…

Enjoy your trip!

Don't worry about rain on Bonaire.....actually look forward to it. It never rains more than 10 minutes and then the sun comes out.....and almost always followed by a nice rainbow. And there is no reason at all not to go ahead with a dive, your wet either way.

*doh!* hahahahaha... thank you, apparently, I'm completely clueless today!!! It still shows rain, but only scattered showers, not thunderstorms!! :P YAY!

The weather report I saw show partly cloudy no rain. I am going Fri as well. I was there last year when a hurican came with in 100 miles and it didnt rain more that 30 min. Didnt even hur vis to much

It did rain a bit the past couple of days on and off from "gustav" before he was "gustav". Generally we usually ignore dismiss any rain reports unless there is over an 80% chance. Right now it is HOT, sunny and beautiful on Bonaire.
