Typical Prices for Fin/Mask/Snorkel combo...

Hey guys,

My gf is looking at purchasing a set of gear for our diving trip coming up. The place where she is doing her PADI training is selling the following:

-mask
-fins
-snorkle
-neoprene booties

cost: $250

Is this a typical price or a rip-off? Seems kind of steep to me. I bought the same set in 2003 and don't remember it costing as much. IS my memory shot or should this stuff be less expensive?

It all depends on what gear it is as to whether $250 is too much.


-mask - $25 to $50 average cost
-fins - $99 to $150 average cost
-snorkle - $18 to $35 average cost
-neoprene booties - $25 to $60 average cost

total average $167 to $295 using the numbers I posted above.

But I think in the long run you'll end up wanting a nicer set of fins. This package is the perfect example that you can get a cheaper set of fins if you want. Most of us would prefer a nicer set of fins though after a while. You can spend the money now, or spend more repacing them with a nicer set later. your choice.
