I have an Olympus stylus 500 and want to get a bigger memory card now that the prices have some what come down. I am looking at the 1G on new egg. Dose the type M memorey realy increase time between shots or will it not make a big differance on my low end camera.

The type M is about 40% slower than the new type H. They are often available for the same price. (I bought a 1g type H on Frys Outpost.com for $49.95 recently) I still use my two type M's for second dives on the same day. If you're shooting jpeg, the extra second or so isn't a huge issue. If you're shooting RAW, especially with a HQ backup, we're talking an extra 4-5 seconds. It's maddening.

Thanks, so what is the standard type compaired to the type m or type H

Type M is standard, type H is "high (ha,ha) speed"

In topside tests, it's worked great. This weekend will be my first time under water with it. Sea Yoda has been using one for quite a while now and really likes it, or at least did until his battery cover leaked this week and flooded it. (See the flood my G-flash thread) I'll post my results after the weekend. So far it seems great for a sub $200 flash. It even came with a decent adjustable tray/arm/grip set-up, although I made my own loc-line arm instead.

Just something to remember when buying high speed cards - you will only get full advantage of them if your camera can actually write data to the card at the faster speed .
