Hi all

Had a look through your posts and this looks like the place to ask a question re- Apeks regs!!

I have an TX40 set (primary/occy) that I've been using for about 12 months and it's probably the best reg I've ever had.

Now I'm thinking about buying an ATX50 second stage to replace my primary and keeping the TX40 occy.

Is the ATX50 second stage going to work OK on my DST first?
I've noticed that Apeks are now advertising the DST as an "over balancing" unit with the ATX50, I don't remember that on the original TX50 blurb!

Is the conversion worthwhile ie is the ATX50 second much better generally than the TX40?

Cheers

Yeah our handles might be a bit too close but don't worry we are geopgraphically at a safe distance..I'm in Western Australia.:D

Regarding performance, there is definately a difference between the adjustable seconds and the TX40. I don't think there is a difference in performance between the TX50 and the ATX50, but the ATX is certainly smaller and lighter than both the TX50 and TX40. I would recommend an adjustable second stage for your primary reg.

BTW, there is no problem using the ATX50 second stage on your DST first stage.

I thought about going for a complete new ATX100 but my diving is really pretty casual and most of the local spots are only 15 to 20 metres so I reckon the 50 will do the job.

Very few people using Apeks regs here at present..mostly Aqualung, SP and Sherwood! But I am definetely a convert.

Thanks for the info.

The TX50/40 combo will take you as deep as you want to go.....or as deep as humanly possible-whichever comes first.
