Just wanted to report back about how this finally worked out.

I bought a singles wing from Apeks.

It did NOT fit on the soft harness from Apeks. The widths of the bands on the harness were wider than the slits in the wing.

It did NOT fit on a transpac harness. The widths of the bands were wider than the slits on the wing.

What it *did* fit on was the bare back-plate from my technical set. I ended up taking that backplate on vacation with me despite it being steel because I couldn't find someone to borrow an ALU backplate from and I was too cheap to buy a new one.

Nevertheless, taking the steel backplate was a good idea. It trimmed out beautifully with an ALU tank. I have video that my buddy took of me where I am waiting for another diver and without a word of a lie he filmed me for 5 minutes and I moved so little that aside from the bubbles from breathing you could think that you were looking at a photograph as opposed to a video.

THAT is how good it balanced.

It did lead to me being close to my baggage weight limit but I was still under, so all good. On the whole I was very satisfied with the solution. I would like to thank everyone who offered their ideas on this thread.
