Got up there yesterday a.m. at about 9:00a.m. and the lake level was down alot, but it was still divable. No mud to wade through, just solid rocky ground to the water.
Stayed around 25-33ft. since I was solo. Water became more murky as I got deeper. Had to use my light to read my computer sometimes. This lake is so prone to silting anyway.
Found 2 nice complete open faced spinning fishing rod and reels sitting on the bottom at about 25ft. 1 was a daiwa and the other a shimano or some name like that. Rods are pretty bad shape but the reels may be able to taken apart and made serviceable. There was no one there at 9:00 when I got there, had the place to myself.
Man, Lanier really needs the rain, she is really hurting. But the area where I was had plenty of diveable depth of water, for now. Need to get somewhere where I get decent vis.
Yes K, I will be hard pressed to get to the Gulf this summer too. I will get my AOW dives some way or other if I have to go with Divers Supply to the springs on one of their monthly trips. Gear trimmed out much better this time.
Love my Zeagle Ranger LTD!! and my 95 steel LP tank and my Apollo Bio Fins!!.

The only place I can find decent vis on Lanier is by the dam, generally 10+ vis, everywhere else, cocktail cove, the sister islands at two mile creek and up six mile creek the vis has been five feet or less.I am ready to dive Lanier again, have not dove it since november.

Water temp was 65-67 at 30 ft. But I think my computer may not have been 100% accurate on that reading. It felt cooler. It was warm near surface of course, but I could feel it through my 7mm and 7mm hood as I got deeper, and I passed through the thermocline. It felt good to get cooled off.

Glad ya had a good dive, Borg.

Ya don't have to go all the way down to Vortex or any of the other springs. A great locale for AOW is up at Loch-Low-Minn.

I love the photos of the great vis at Loch Low Minn, but it doesn't have the depth for PADI AOW Deep Dive checkout dives at least by your high and trusted standards of 100ft. It would a good training for the deeper checkout dive though.
Thanks for the reply K. I'm getting up there to LLM soon. If I have to use a horse, which is what we may be reduced to by the end of the summer.

Hey all! I'm from the Macon area and always looking for divesites. Where is Loch Low Minn?

Thanks
Frank
