Apparently TWICE cards may be used by airline/airport personal as well as the are transportation workers after all. To delay flight personal could delay the flight so there are separate "express" lanes where the lines are not so long. Long. All the same security measures are taken, just the lines might be shorter.

In Detroit it didn't matter, but Orlando was another story and I saved at least a half hour to fourth mins.

I understand that as transportation workers, airport employees would have TWIC's. I guess I'm just surprised that you (or anyone) could go through the airport employee crew line and no other ID or information would be asked about or for (to show that you worked for an airline). Huh.

Yes
Your TWIC Card puts you in the same box as airport/airline employees and you get preferential treatment.

So the expense and vetting we went thru to maintain these cards is worth something.

Okay, thanks, so it's for anyone with a TWIC. Sweet. I guess that's what my question boiled down to: Was it A-Okay due to having a TWIC, or was it slightly "sneaking" because you're supposed to be airport crew (I'm not very good at that type of "sneaking through" so that's why I had to know :))

Thanks for clarifying,
Blue Sparkle

The card confirms who we are and that we have proven it. Security is no different, I don't know if everyone gets a pat down. As long as the crew security personnel are not over loaded by this...WTH

COOL!

Can't wait to try this in a few weeks, when I fly home for Christmas.

Hi all-

First post on here..and a good question to follow up on. When TWIC cards first came out most minor airports where not aware of the card..Now most do.. I've used it on N.C. Ferry System with no probs..funny how they give you a funny look when I ride up on my motorcycle and show 'em my card..:>

From the TWIC site:

Possession of a TWIC™ does not guarantee access to secure areas because the owner/operator controls which individuals are granted unescorted access to the facility or vessel. Rather, TWIC™ is a secure, verified credential that can be used in conjunction with the owner/operator's risk-based security program that is required in security regulations issued by the Coast Guard.

What!!! I just renewed mine last fall! And next the Social Security age will be increased just before I get there!

I spent more on gas having to travel 225 miles twice because they couldn't trust the USPS to mail it to me. Nothing more fustrating to have to drive 2+ hours to just pick up a card, turn around and drive back.
