I am a newbie to layers so I'm still learning how to best use them. I'm sure, like everything else I've learned in PS, it will open new possibilities. I just need the time to sit down and play awhile to unlock the door.

I also use Microsoft Photo Editor that came with Microsoft Office.

I take out a notch of green and a notch of blue and adjust red until the background looks natural. Then I brighten and contrast the picture until I like it.

I did a talk to the local photo club and showed the difference between underwater and land photography. They liked my stuff but said that I have a tendency to do too much red. So on my recent pics I look at sand or background plants to judge what is right.

That is a wonderful turtle pic.

It blows me away how my brain never remembers exactly the colors I see u/w. I can think I've got it right and come back later and tweak something and both pics look good. I've learned to accept what I see on the adjusted version for what it is. U/W all things appear blue so beyond that everything is art and technology not reality.
