Yeah I made it clear they were purchased on ebay and I did not know when or if they had ever been serviced.

Right. I can see how they could advise you to save 90 quid if you told them the regs basically work fine. If I'd told them it's a 2nd-hand set off eBay in unknown condition and they wouldn't offer to do what Jim said, that'd be my last visit to that shop.

Yeah I figured something like that. But to be honest I think I'm gonna shop elsewhere for equipment and training in future.

They were happy to sell a used set of the same regs to my partner and service them for her for the fee but as I have posted she has. Been unable to use them as they constantly freeflow even after being re serviced.go figure?

Ok now what you want to do is go to the airport. Buy a ticket to Pittsburgh. Get on the plane after letting me know when you plan to arrive. I'll take good care of you. training and gear wise. :D

Lol.I'd love to but I'm a bit tied up with work at the moment. Thanks for the kind offer though.don't think I'm gonna be in the states till next year. Coming over the pond then to ride a hog across your beautiful country and get as much diving in as I can. I keep reading about all the great sites you have over there to drop into.

Yeah I was very surprised. I'm not going to name the shop/school or their affiliation but they have a good reputation and came highly recommended. Maybe I caught them on a bad day. There are plenty of other shops so no problem. I'm going to take the advice given on hear as I have been following forum posts on scubaboard and respect the opinions and wealth of experience that you chaps have.thanks to you all for confirming my thoughts in that I should trust my training. Check test and check again.

In my opinion they just saved you that much money and didn't take a chance on giving you a problem with the service. If they work they work. If you get them serviced sometimes they don't work.

I will say that the training I received from this school I believe was excellent. Thourough and left me confident.

Well when I give them a good deep and cold test next week in the north Sea I'll let you know if they work or not.gonna service them first as per Jims instructions

Ok fair point. I'll take that into consideration too.thanks.

Personally, I always err on the side of caution re: diving in general and that includes getting my regs serviced regularly...and I know I keep them in good condition whereas with the used ones you now own, you don't know their history. While problems can happen any time even with serviced regs, I'd like to reduce the chance of them happening where I can and not kick myself over saving a bit of money.

Have fun in the North Sea!
