Hey! I just have some information to share with those of you really wanting to become an Advanced Diver. I don't mean, just getting your Advanced Diver Card. I mean REALLY becoming ADVANCED in your diving.

There is a program run in Los Angeles County, called ADP (Advanced Diver Program). It is by far the most comprehensive program out there today. There is over 100 hours of training. You'll here lectures from dive industry experts. Topics will include Decompression Theory, Oceanography, Marine Life ID,
Deep Diving, Night Diving, Wreck Survey, Photography, etc.

I went through this program, and was amazed at the diver I had become. They only run the program once a year, and it's coming up July 10, 2010. It's such a great program that the Instructors from UICC (another of the Los Angeles County programs) come back and volunteer their time each year, helping to create some really great divers.

Check out their website at lacountyscuba.com. You can read all about LA County Scuba, and their programs.

Having seen many graduates from the ADP course, I'd be hard-pressed to call any of them "REALLY ADVANCED" divers.

That said, it appears to be a quality program to further ones recreational diving.

Ease up... no need to kick the guy after his first post.

I'd have thought the SB community would welcome more thorough attempts at diver training given some of the stuff you read on other threads.

Sheesh.

The LA Cnty ADP is far and away the best "advanced" diver program in the recreational diving world, I recommend it highly. While it does not cover everything that you will get in a gue-f program, it does include a lot of things that gue-f does not, so if you're headed in the gue direction, I'd still recommend both.
