Trouble applying Strobe Mask on my G10

I have a Cannon G10, WP-DC 28 housing and Sea and Sea YS-02 strobe. I'm having difficulty applying the strobe mask over the internal flash because of the housing design. The grommet doesn't lay flat against the housing, hence I can't plug the fiber-optic cable into the grommet. Any suggestions how to make this work? Thanks.
