They're thinking Cat-3 by Monday with a turn straight towards Cozumel, but many miles to wander and turn again. Bears watching. I remember the night before I escaped Cozumel in front of an approaching major hurricane, seeing new people arriving at my hotel and I asked if they were not concerned about the approaching hurricane. They asked, "What hurricane?

Big ocean small eyewalls and actually just now the latest track shows the expected move to the expected storm to be north toward Cuba. I have no idea who expected it to impact Cozumel? It is very easy for some to wish it --but most likely just sensationalists. On the big ocean, small eyeball subject, in the early 2000s we had a cat 4 touch Punta Sur, with no damage at all in town.

No one in here said it was going to impact Cozumel and I don’t know of anyone who would wish it to. For my part, I just said that there was a storm meandering around in the western Caribbean that was likely to be a strong one (it is) and that we should keep an eye on it.

Yep, now they're thinking Cat-1 by Saturday, Cat-3 by Sunday, Cat-4 by Monday, with Jamaica possibly brushed, including heavy rains, and Cuba at risk of a hit unless it turns again. Keep watching for sure!

Remember that the forecast shows the potential location of the eye. The current forecast isn’t that Jamaica will be “possibly brushed”, but that it will be impacted by the strong side of the hurricane. There will be considerable devastation to the island, and being a fan of the island, I pray for the safety of the people who are affected.
