Tropical depression 05W is currently located approximately 1100 nautical miles East of Siargao, and is forecast to move generally West Northwest, closing on the Luzon coast before heading towards Japan. This weather system is expected to increase in intensity to typhoon status within the next 48 hours. Based on its current forecast track it will be closest to Cagayan province, Philippines, on Sunday.
