Ladies and Gents,

Does anyone know whether the Tristar has a PC with CDR-burning software on board?

I had this neat plan of taking my camera along, filling the 1Gb card and just loading it onto my Ipod 60Gb Photo (saves on lugging the laptop around with me on tour). Great plan, but I now find myself unable to load my pics from the Ipod to my laptop.

As I have no wish to spend my time trying to make out details on a screen more suited to Moonie, this is a problem.

I'll take my laptop if I have to, but I'd rather not, so an on-board PC with a burner would solve my dilemma.

Thanks!

OK Larry, I'm sitting here at home suffering from a delayed case of Bombay belly, so I thought I'd try to help you on the ipod stuff... I use a third party software called anapod (which I strongly recommend) that make's my ipod show up as a normal folder in windows explorer (simple drag n drop for songs and photo). Not sure if you are using a mac or a PC. Anyways, just found the instructions to that Apple photo dongle. Instructions to transfer photos to your computer...

"Connect iPod to your computer and open the application you use to transfer photos from your digital camera... If you are using a Mac, you can use iPhoto or Image Capture to transfer photos"

Also, "Photos are stored in a DCIM (digital camera images) folder on iPod. You can also transfer images to your computer by opening this folder and dragging the image files to the desktop. iPod must be enabled for use as a hard disk."

Also make sure your iPod has the latest software upgrade (go to apple support).

But... I just found this list of compatible cameras that work with that Apple iPod Camera Connector and I don't see you Oly 8080...:11doh: But again! I recall seeing you had success UPLOADING the photos to you ipod in PG so I believe this is not the issue... again, I'd check that you enabled to see your iPod as a disk drive option...

Sorry to hear about your dodgy belly - get well soon.

Most of what you advise (barring anapod) I've already tried (using a PC BTW).

I'll try the software upgrade tonight, as I've already moaned about before, the work PC ports are all disabled for security and it's impossible to connect my laptop to the net in the office.

I've got to the stage of identifying where the files are stored on the Ipod, by working out the file size through properties (files stored in G:\Photos\Thumbs BTW). Problem is that instead of say, 400 files of 1Mb each, I get a single file of 400Mb with the extensio. ".ITHBM" which won't open for me.

@pak: do you really have to upgrade the firmware to enable swapping between pc & ipod? i recently downgraded my ipod to 1.0 from 1.1 'coz the 1.1 seemed to have problems specifically for the 60Gb ipod video...the thing won't turn off :D

@larry: have you experienced the same with you 60gb?

no video, photo only :(

Hey Larry, are you just trying to use the IPOD as a storage device? I also have a 60Gb Photo and have been using it as a storage device for almost a year now. Make sure that you enable it as a disk drive on ITunes. What I do is I don't use any of the default folders on the IPod. I create a new folder to store my stuff. However, you won't be able to view the photos that you've stored unless you use ITunes. ITunes converts them to a format which your IPod can understand. So it's pretty useless, except as a storage device if you don't have access to ITunes.

nope you will have to bring your own laptop. they do not have the said facilities you require. however they have a well stocked bar, sound system and bigscreen tv with all the dvds you could possibly want.

greatwolf, are you sure? I use the iPod photo connector that Larry uses and can upload RAW files from my Canon camera and then upload those RAW files to my computer. but I don't use iTunes and the photo connector does claim you don't have to use itunes.

Greatwolf - can't view my pics at all through Itunes. Bottom right of the screen I get a bit of text telling me that there are 667 Photos,, but no indication of how to access them.
