I should have checked the actual drug content but my experience with Dramamine was less than comforting. It gave me a pretty good high at 0600 and by the time it wore off I had such a dry mouth I could barely swallow. I prefer Triptone as it appears to be side affect free.
And no I didn't mistake Dramamine for those dang brownies again :D
The trick I learned with Dramamine is I never take the whole tablet. I break it in 4 and take just one quater. This is enough to stop motion sickness but not enough to make me drowsy.

Your local Wallymart::: "Equate" (store brand) Motion Sickness Pills, 100 for about three bucks. Active ingredients: Dimenhydrinate 50 mg. (Antiemetic)

Call me skeptical...in fact, I'd bet my sea-bands against it. ;)
Why access the "placebo effect" by spending money on sea-bands when you can use a hypnotic suggestion for free? :D

Seriously, though, if you think that hypnosis is hogwash, consider expanding the definition of hypnosis to include any words or thoughts used to affect the autonomic nervous system. Here's an example: What happens if someone gets in your face and yells really loudly at you in an aggressive manner? A common response for many people is that their heart rate increases, their breathing pattern changes, their face may get flushed or do the opposite (become pale), etc. Hypnosis is really nothing more than that.

Well RJP just blew my theory out of the water if it was indeed Dramamine I took and not some generic.

I've never experienced similar reactions to Triptone. Maybe it was the brownies :dontknow:

Thanks everyone for the info. My wife has found some Triptone on-line that can be delivered to Canada. Now we just have to wait....

Thanks
Buck

My wife has 2 issues she gets very drowsy when taking any cold medicine and also this happend from the the patch and Dramamine. The wrist bands were usless we went on a 2 tank dive and the boat rolled about 3 feet most of the time since we were over the reef. We lost one day already on our GC trip she had to sleep all day today to get rid of the patch side effect. We will do shore dives until we leave on Saturday. She was really bummed today. Were going to try Bonine when we get back home see what works. I noticed that there is one device whcih gives an electric shock under the wrist which the makers say it's the only non drug device approved by the FDA. Has anyone tried this thing?

I have not studied the lables, but I have tried them (OTC) all.
A TripTone the night before, then one in the morning when I wake up. One more on the boat or during SI, depending on the trip. Priceless.

As RJP stated..Triptone is NOT Bonine.

If you're still looking, we have TripTone for $5.56 per pack and the shipping, even to Canada, is free! Shoot me a PM and we'll get it in the mail to you!

Insight Pharmaceuticals (the makers of "Bonnie") bought Triptone some time around 2009. There has been a trickle of supply since then. I was even able to get it from Target, by asking at the pharmacy counter. It was an over the counter item that was in their computer system, but they didn't have regular shelf space for it. They would special order it for you for less than $3 for a box of 12!

I have now found out that because of low sales, they are no longer making Triptone! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE call Insight Pharmaceuticals800-344-7239 and contact them,http://www.bonine.com/contact-us , with a request to bring it back! PLEASE spread the word. Maybe some diehard enthusiast can make a difference.

The company's info is:
Insight Pharmaceuticals, LLC. 1170 Wheeler Way, Suite 150. Langhorne, PA 19047-1749. T: 1-800-344-7239.
