Triple-L Gemini Hybrid?

I have seen a lot of talk about Triple-L products, especially in the amazingly detailed and long thread on their products. However, I haven't seen anyone mention the Gemini hybrid BCD. Has anyone checked out one of these?

It seems pretty cool in that it has a back inflate and an independant jacket-style inflate. Two separate systems it sounds like. Triple-L's schpiel:

High tech Hybrid BCD. Now you can have it both ways. An amazing Hydird combination of a backinflate BCD and a standard jacket style inflating BCD. Because it offers two independant bladders and two fully independany air sustems, this BCD is also perfect for diving conditions where the utmost in safety backup is required - cave diving, wreck diving and deep (>100 mtrs) diving, etc.

So, I just wondered if anyone had experience with this or any BCD of this type. Thanks for any info.

My brother bought one and gave it to me. I have 5 dives on it. Down to 131'. I'm new so I don't have a lot of comparisions to make with it. But it is much more comfortable than my training BC. I tried to use both bladders on my 131' dive and found this to be not so great of an idea. Went back to 1 bladder and one as a backup and have been real pleased. But at that price???? I would like it even as a back up.

Please don't. Remember your bc vs back inflate thread, where a dozen people told you how much they love a bp/wing for its simplicity, adaptability, and robustness? The Gemini has none of these. That's the most overengineered, bulky, and unstreamlined BC I could possibly imagine. Air bags on your back, on your sides, add huge pockets, what a mess.

Well, my initial thought was that most equipment that tries to do two things never does either thing particularly well.

Honestly, I'm looking forward to trying a back inflate bc to see what I think of it. I'm looking at buying my first rig and the combination of wife sticker shock and my own lack of experience makes me want to start with something that may not necessarily be perfect forever and for all purposes.

Hey, I was in the same boat as you a couple years ago. I made the mistake of buying a regular BC and then trying to defend it. The more I dove the more I appreciated the idea of a bp/wing.. I of course eventually submitted and my diving has never been the same.
